Our Work

It is our honor and greatest joy to work with over 1,000 educators in the Denver area. We are constantly amazed by the passion of teachers and administrators as they support children on their path to being readers.

Our Impact

400+

We spend 400+ hours at each school to develop teachers so they in turn can connect all of their students to their just right book.

1,000,000+

We provide books to schools until every student can say they found not just one right book, but dozens.

70+

Over the last 14 years we have supported over 70 schools and 20 Boys & Girls Clubs.

“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.”

Programs

In Colorado, we bring our mission of connecting students to books in a variety ways

School Partnerships

The framework of our partnerships are designed to support schools in creating and developing a sustainable system around Independent Reading Best Practices, and we accomplish this by working directly with teachers and administrators in all aspects involved; such as the student experience, book choice, teacher development, school processes, and technology.

Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver

We established our partnership with The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver in 2005 to help stop the "summer slide" that children can experience in reading. We have since expanded in to a full year reading partnership with 20 Boys and Girls Clubs.

Kinder Read Alouds

Through reading aloud to our youngest reader, these students are introduced to high quality literature, a diverse range of authors, and they joy of the great book.

Structure Literacy Initiative (SLI)

Structured Literacy Initiative provides the highest level of evidence-based, effective reading and spelling instruction during the school day to the most impacted Denver Public School students. SLI does this by offering a two-year therapy-level structured literacy reading intervention training and certification in the science of reading to Denver Public Schools educators at no cost to the child, family, educator or school.

READS Colorado Instructional Intervention & Tutor Program

The READS Colorado Instructional Intervention & Tutor Program was established to aid students in progressing through the stages of reading development; decoding, vocabulary development and background knowledge. With these skills, students can develop into a community of lifelong, voracious readers.
